AAA Cards ~ Challenge #292

There is a new challenge starting now at AAA Cards. For the next two weeks, we have a sketch challenge for you.

When I saw the sketch, I knew what I wanted to do. Here's my card.

I used Pretty Pink Posh's Layered Candles stencils (of which there are three layers). I "masked" off the individual candles with scraps of paper. I used distress inks applied with oval ink blending brushes, in rainbow order, wilted violet, blueprint sketch, mermaid lagoon, mowed lawn, twisted citron, squeezed lemonade, carved pumpkin, candied apple for the candles. For the first layer, I used a light hand and applied minimal ink. For the second more decorative layer, I applied more ink using the same distress inks for a tone-on-tone look. For the tops of the candles, the third layer, I used mustard seed distress ink, again applied with an oval ink blending brush. For the sentiment, I used Clearly Besotted's Many Mini Messages. When I started, I wasn't completely certain where I was going so I ink blended on a white A2 card panel. In retrospect, I could have started with a white A2 card base and created a one-layer card. What I did to complete my card, is adhere the panel to a white A2 card base with double-sided tape.

We'd love to see how you are inspired by our sketch. Add your creations to our gallery for us and others to see.

Addicted to Stamps and More! Challenge #494

We have a new challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More! Our next challenge in our rotation is

Here's my card

Sadly, I've needed some sympathy cards recently. I used a technique I saw Gina K do here. I adapted it to work for me. I used the silhouette stamp from Gina K Design's Wild Blossoms stamp set. I stamped it on a white A2 panel for my base and again on three panels of gray, in differing shades. I cut four 1/2" strips from the bottom. I adhered one strip from each color over the original stamped panel, leaving the bottom 1/2" original. If you're following along, I have extra 1/2" strips. So I stamped two more panels for a base and adhered the gray 1/2" strips. Boom - three cards. Here they are. I tried a light gray base, not sure if it worked as well as the white base.

I adhered the panels to white A2 note cards to complete my cards. Three more sympathy cards for my stash.

We'd love to see your "any occasion" cards in our gallery.

Die Cut Divas ~ Watercolouring with Art Impressions

Hello Crafty Friends! Our challenge for May at Die Cut Divas is

Real or Faux Watercolouring

(or use water on your card - LOL!)

Our sponsor this month is Art Impressions. They will be giving our winner a $25 gift card to their online store. Thank you Art Impressions!

Here's my card

For my card, I started with Art Impressions - Freebie - Market that I received with my last order. I stamped it with Versafine Onyx Black ink on some 100 lb bristol. I watercoloured using distress inks (worn lipstick, cracked pistachio, tumbled glass, victorian violet, weathered wood, fired brick, lucky clover). I smooshed the ink on a plastic place mat and picked up the ink with a wet brush. I die cut the image using an Art Impressions' Journal Oval Frames die. I used the same die set for the scalloped oval mat. I adhered both ovals together and then onto a teal A2 card panel. I stamped the sentiment using Clearly Besotted's Many Mini Messages. I felt something was missing. So, I added a little bow to the upper left of the ovals.

There are only hours left in our May Challenge. We'd love to see your creations in our gallery.

Addicted to CAS ~ Challenge #284

Time for the next challenge at Addicted to CAS. Our code word for the next fortnight is

Isn't this just the perfect Code Word for spring? Here's my card.

For my card, I started with My Favorite Things' oval Extraordinaire stencil, a white A2 panel and my Make Art STAY-tion. I lined things up and ink blended using distress inks - cracked pistachio, peacock feathers and mermaid lagoon applied with oval ink blending brushes. I removed the stencil and put away my Make Art STAY-tion. With the white A2 panel, I stamped the floral image using STAMPlorations' Blossom Sprays #1 and the sentiment using Clearly Besotted's Many Mini Messages. I felt that my image was a little lop-sided so I trimmed it a bit and adhered it to a white A2 card base to complete my card.

We'd love to see your floral cards in our gallery.

Try A Sketch On Tuesday ~ Challenge #671

Looking for some inspiration to get crafty? We have a new challenge starting at Try A Sketch On Tuesday. Here's our sketch.

Here's my card

I thought about tearing some teal paper to create the jagged lines of the sketch. Instead, I chose to use Lawn Fawn's Ocean Wave stencil Lawn Clippings and distress inks - peacock feathers, tumbled glass and mermaid lagoon, applied with oval ink blending brushes. I altered the position of the stencil, including using the reverse side to get some uniqueness in the waves. For the critters, hearts and bubbles, I used Lawn Fawn's Shello Friend stamp set and Versafine Onyx Black ink. I added color to the images using the coordinating coloring stencils and Concord & 9's honeysuckle, grapefruit, creamsicle inks and more tumbled glass distress ink all applied with mini ink blending brushes. I die cut the images out with the coordinating dies. I received all the Lawn Fawn products as part of Scrapbook & Cards Today's Crop & Create Delivered March 2025 event. I added some sparkle to the images using a glue pen and some glitter. Here's a close-up.

I glued all the die cuts to the background panel and then adhered the panel to a white A2 card base with double-sided tape to complete my card.

We'd love to see what you create starting with our sketch. Looking forward to seeing your creations in our gallery.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #631

One of the difficult things about getting home from a three week holiday in a completely different time zone is jet lag and brain fog. I have no idea what day it is. However, it's still Monday for a few more hours here on the West Coast. Monday means that it's time for a new challenge at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. Here's our sketch

Here's my card

For my card, I used Concord & 9's supplies that I received as part of Scrapbook & Cards Today's Crop & Create Delivered March 2022. I started with Concord & 9's Confetti Dots Turnabout Stencil and Concord & 9's honeysuckle, oceanside and buttercup inks. I ink blended with one color using oval ink blending brushes. Then, I cleaned off the stencil and rotated it 90 degrees and ink blended the second color. I cleaned off the stencil, rotated it 90 degrees and ink blended the third color to achieve the pretty confetti dots. I cut two panels 3 3/4" x 1 1/4". For the center panel, I heat embossed with white embossing powder the sentiment using Concord & 9's Pop-Up Par-tay stamp set onto some Concord & 9's honeysuckle paper. I die cut the balloon using using the coordinating Concord & 9's Pop-Up Par-tay die. I cut a piece of yellow cardstock 3 3/4" x 2 1/4". I stamped the balloon string using the same stamp set with honeysuckle ink. For the sentiment banner, I stamped the sentiment using the same stamp set with oceanside ink onto a scrap of white cardstock which I cut into a double fishtail banner. I glued the balloon to the yellow cardstock and adhered all the pieces onto a teal A2 card panel with double sided tape. To complete my card, I adhered the teal panel to a white A2 card base with double sided tape.

We'd love to see how you're inspired by our sketch. We look forward to seeing your creations in our gallery.

AAA Cards ~ Challenge #291

Ready for a new Clean and Simple card challenge? We'd love for you to join us at AAA Cards. Our challenge this fortnight is

And the leader's card is this one

Here's my card

I used the same gold and black color palette with some gold heat embossing. For my card, I used supplies that I received as part of Scrapbook & Cards Today's Celebrations Delivered event, held February 2023. I die cut the grad cap and sentiment with black cardstock. The tassel was cut from gold cardstock. For the sentiment, I applied some Versamark ink, (direct ink to paper) to the lower part of the sentiment die cut and added gold embossing powder which I heat embossed. I trimmed the white A2 panel slightly and to a black A2 panel, I applied some Versamark ink to the lower edges and heat embossed with gold embossing powder. I adhered the white panel to the black with double-sided tape and glued the cap, tassel and sentiment to the white panel. To finish my card, I adhered the black panel to a white A2 card base with double sided tape.

We'd love to see how you're inspired by our Leader's card. Looking forward to seeing your creation in our gallery.

Addicted to Stamps and More! Challenge #493

A new challenge is starting at Addicted to Stamps and More! For the next two weeks, our challenge will be

Here's my card

I started with a white A2 card panel and My Favorite Things' Rectangle Extraordinaire stencil. I used my Wendy Vecchi's Make Art STAY-tion to hold the stencil and card panel in place. I added distress inks - mustard seed, picked raspberry, tumbled glass, twisted citron applied with oval ink blending brushes. It was interesting as colors overlapped, new colors emerged. It really looks like I used more than four colors. I then ran the panel through the Spellbinders' Embossing Folder of the Month for May 2023. I used Simon Says STAMP's Happy Birthday Script die and some mid-gray cardstock. I added some clear Wink of Stella for a bit of sparkle. I glued it in place. To complete my birthday card, I adhered the panel to a white A2 card base with double-sided tape.

We'd love to see your Birthday cards in our gallery.

Addicted to CAS ~ Challenge #283

Ready for a Clean and Simple Challenge? We have one at Addicted to CAS. Here's our Code Word for the next two weeks.

Here's my card

Are you like me? I'm a collector of crafty things. For instance, I've purchased the Advent Calendar from Spellbinders for the last three years. After opening all the little doors, the "surprises" just sit there. Well, I decided that it was time that I use "something"! I made this card. I used dies from Spellbinders 2024 Advent Calendar, day 4 and day 8. I used the flowers to add texture and interest to the vase. I die cut the flowers, leaves and stems from white cardstock and added color by ink blending using picked raspberry and evergreen bough distress inks applied with mini ink blending brushes. I popped the vase up with dimensionals which made adding the stems much easier. I glued the pieces in place on a kraft A2 card panel. For the sentiment, I ink blended some white cardstock with the evergreen bough and die cut the top layer of the sentiment from that. The bottom layer is the same tan cardstock as the vase. To complete my card, I adhered the kraft panel to a white A2 card base with double-sided tape.

We'd love to see your Clean and Simple Birthday cards in our gallery.

Try A Sketch On Tuesday ~ Challenge #670

Tuesday, eh? That must mean that it's time for a new challenge at Try A Sketch On Tuesday. Here's the sketch.

Here's my card

For my card, I started with Simon Says STAMP's Butterfly Drift die. I used the die cut with a panel of light blue cardstock, positioning the die about 1 1/4" from the right edge. I trimmed off about 7/8" from the right edge. I also die cut butterflies and outline with the die twice from white cardstock. I glued both white outline die cuts together. I cut a strip about 7/8" wide from the edge of the remains of a white die cut, that matched the light blue cardstock. On a white A2 card base, I adhered the blue panel and white strip, which perfectly left the open space for the die cuts. I then glued the double-stacked outline die cut in place. For the butterflies, I added color with Copics - B02, BG13, G14, R29, V06, Y15, YR04. I folded the butterflies in the middle and only glued the middle section to the card base, allowing the butterfly wings to "fly" above the card panel. I added two strips, one purple and one yellow to complete my card.

We'd love to see what you create using our sketch in our gallery.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #629

It's Monday. That means, it's time for a new sketch challenge at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. Here's the sketch.

Here's my card

I made a birthday card. I started by ink blending a white card panel with distress inks - mustard seed, spiced marmalade, picked raspberry, cracked pistachio and PinkFresh Studio's summer shower ink. Over that, I used Hero Arts Party Confetti stencil, received as part of the Crop & Create Delivered Fall 2022 event with the same inks, just with a little heavier hand. I die cut using a Spellbinders Label 8 die. I die cut some balloons using Paper Smooches Balloons dies and used a single strand of baker's twine for the balloons strings. The sentiment uses Clearly Besotted's A Little Sentimental stamps et and I trimmed the cardstock to a thin strip and cut two fish-tail ends. For the background, I embossed a light gray A2 panel with Sizzix-Ellison's Dots embossing folder. I adhered the pieces into place and adhered the panel to a white A2 card base to complete my card.

We'd love to see what you do with our sketch in our gallery.

AAA Cards ~ Challenge #290

We've got a new challenge at AAA Cards.

Here's my card

Yippee for me! My friend had this stamp and die set and I.had.to.have.it. However, you know how that goes, right? I've had it for at least a couple of years and I think that this might have been the first time I actually opened the packaging! WHAT? LOL! The sets are Mama Elephant's Little Cat Agenda stamp and die sets. I picked out three "birthday" kitties and stamped them with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I added color with Copic markers (which I sadly forgot to write down). I die cut the kitties with the coordinating dies. For the postage stamp squares, I die cut them using a Concord & 9's Seaside Post wafer die that I received as part of Crop & Create Delivered Spring 2023 event. To create the background for the kitties, I made a mask using a post-it note and a square die from My Favorite Things Stitched Square STAX die-namics set. I ink blended some tumbled glass distress inks on the postage stamp square die cuts using an oval ink blending brush. I glued the kitties in place and adhered the postage stamp square die cuts onto a gray A2 card panel. I heat embossed the sentiment using Your Next Stamp's Jungle Critters stamp set and silver embossing powder. I adhered the panel to a white A2 card base to complete my card.

We'd love to see your Clean and Simple birthday cards in our gallery.

Die Cut Divas ~ "Watercolouring" with Art Impressions

Hello Crafty Friends! Our challenge for May at Die Cut Divas is

Real or Faux Watercolouring

(or use water on your card - LOL!)

Our sponsor this month is Art Impressions. They will be giving our winner a $25 gift card to their online store. Thank you Art Impressions!

Here's my card

I started this card by making the background. With an A2 panel of 100 lb bristol, I smooshed distress ink on a plastic place mat, spritzed with some water and placed the A2 panel onto the ink to pick up color. I repeated this process several times with picked raspberry, spiced marmalade and festive berries distress inks until I was happy with the result. I let the panel dry. I die cut the panel with an Art Impressions' Journal Oval Frames die. On the outer piece, I stamped the gift image using Art Impressions' Special Window set several times is slightly different orientations. To the center piece, I stamped the sentiment using Paper Smooches' Let's Celebrate stamp set. I adhered the outer piece to a black A2 card panel and popped the center piece with dimensionals. To complete my card, I adhered the black A2 panel to a white A2 card base with double-sided tape.

We'd love to see your "watercolour" cards in our gallery.

Addicted to Stamps and More! Challenge #492

Time for a new challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More! For the next two weeks, our challenge will be

Here's my card

For my card, I used Polkadoodles' Christmas Scene stamp set. The stamp reminds me of Who-ville from Dr Seuss' "How the Grinch Stole Christmas". I stamped all the houses with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I added color with Copic markers - B02, BG15, C3, E71, G14, G82, R17, R29, RV23, V06, V15, Y06, Y15, Y38, YG23, YG63, YR07. For the word, "MERRY", I heat embossed with Simon Says STAMP's Chunky Christmas with silver embossing powder on a scrap of red cardstock. I die cut the sentiment strip with a Photo Play's Sentiment Strips Etched Die. To complete my card, I adhered the white A2 panel to a white A2 card base with double-sided tape.

Addicted to CAS ~ Challenge #282

When life gets hectic, I find that I need time at my craft table and I need to make clean and simple cards. There is something about clean and simple cards that calms me. We have our next clean and simple challenge starting now at Addicted to CAS. Here's our Code Word.

Fun Code Word, eh? Here's my card

My card features this pinata using Lawn Fawn's Year Seven stamp set. I stamped it with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and added color with Copic Markers BG15, RV14, Y15, YG09, YR04. I fussy cut it. I considered putting an action wobble behind it but decided to suspend it from the top of my card with some silver cord. I adhered the one end of the cord to the backside of a white A2 card panel and the other end behind the pinata. I stamped the sentiment to the white panel using Paper Smooches' Word Salad stamp set. To complete my card, I adhered the white panel to a white A2 card base, essentially sandwiching the end of the cord between the panel and the card base. Here's a photo of the pinata swinging freely.

We'd love to see how you're inspired by FIESTA. Please add your creations to our gallery.

AAA Cards ~ Challenge #289

Ready for some Clean and Simple goodness? We have a new challenge starting at AAA Cards. This fortnight, it's a color challenge.

Here's my card

For my card, I used Simon Says STAMP's Sweet Tulip die. I die cut three times - two with white cardstock and one with black cardstock. I glued them together with the black on top. i then die cut the "pieces" with colored cardstock scraps. I didn't have a dark green, so I made some colored cardstock with Forest Moss distress ink, using the ink to paper technique. On a white A2 card base, I glued the stacked die cut in place and glued the inlaid die cut pieces. For the sentiment, I used Simon Says STAMP's Lots of Thanks stamp set.

We'd love to see what you create with our color challenge in our gallery.
